Cat on a Piano. She appeared about a year ago in the garden, out of nowhere, just sitting there, looking, watching. A few months ago she got into the house somehow and stole food. A few weeks ago she came into the living room and watched telly with me, loudly purring. She now appears to be living and sleeping here. The little reddish-brown cat. The new cat. The Lost Border. Photographs of the Iron Curtain, by Brian Rose. Wow. And now go and buy the book. Via Haiko Hebig. In 1985 I began a photo-documentation of the Iron Curtain, travelling across Europe along the former dividing line between East and West. The pictures were made in color with a 4x5 view camera, and describe the topography of the border with its fences, watchtowers, and no man's land. To my knowledge, this is the only comprehensive project of its kind dealing with the now-vanished Iron Curtain landscape. Offleben, East/West German Border, 1987.
